“Wer Sixt für ihr Guerillamarketing-Kalkül kritisiert, muss ein spaßbefreiter Spielverderber sein, denn was ist schon passiert? Nun: Es ist das Missverhältnis von durchschaubarem Kommerz, wichtigem politischen Thema und billigem Klamauk, das Unwohlsein macht.” (Von Christoph Kappes). Weiterlesen bei Carta.info

“Facebook has long been a one-way valve. You put data in, so you can connect with friends, and then you can’t get it out and use it the way you would like to, even as the company is trying to corner the market on your identity.” Weiterlesen bei Wired/Epicenter

Neue Gegenwart Nr. 59
“Man sollte den Nahbereich, in dem man als gerätelose, pure Person existiert, nicht aus dem Blick verlieren. Nahsehen ist das unterschätzteste Nichtmedium des 21. Jahrhunderts – um es mal paradox auszudrücken.”

Chris Anderson: How web video powers global innovation
“TED’s Chris Anderson says the rise of web video is driving a worldwide phenomenon he calls Crowd Accelerated Innovation — a self-fueling cycle of learning that could be as significant as the invention of print. But to tap into its power, organizations will need to embrace radical openness. And for TED, it means the dawn of a whole new chapter …”

Link: Holographic telepresence demonstrated (Nature)
“A practical method of producing truly three-dimensional images that do not require the viewer to wear special eyewear would have many potential applications – in telemedicine, mapping and entertainment, for instance. True 3D holographic displays have so far lacked the capability of updating images with sufficient speed to convey movement. Now, a team working at the University of Arizona’s College of Optical Sciences and Nitto Denko Technical Corporation in Oceanside, California, has developed a system that updates images at close to real-time.” Weiterlesen (Nature)

“Theatre of War”
“Shot in Saddam Hussein’s hilltop palace in the mountains overlooking the River Tigris, Theatre of War is a slow, virtually static video piece redolent of classical history painting. Audio was recorded at the official US military hand-over ceremony at the nearby city of Saniya. A mullah’s prayer for unity among Arabs is spoken, after which the pan-Arab national anthem, Mawtini (My Homeland) is played, emphasizing Arab national solidarity and a pan-Arab territory. Made in Iraq in March 2009. Cinematography and Editing by Trevor Tweeten. Digital Color and Post Production by Jerome Thelia.” Vimeo-Credits: Richard Mosse.
